We know a major part of your sailing experience is based on the skills, experience, personalities and hospitality of your Captain and crew.
Your hosts aboard DiggerKat are Bob and Kat, both USCG licensed Captains. Together we have over 35 years of sailing experience-sailing the waters of the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Keys, Atlantic coast, Caribbean, and the Bahamas.
We are both life-long sailors and have chosen a sailing lifestyle as our "second career". Bob was a builder from Northern Wisconsin, with a passion for sailing Lake Superior, kayaking and fishing. He has swapped bow hunting for lobstering-and doesn't seem to miss skiing and ice fishing. Kathryn worked in the field of philanthropy-where she still consults and somehow manages to fly back to Minnesota whenever there's a snow storm. Kat, who grew up sailing the inland lakes of Northern Minnesota and the Great Lakes, has a Winthrop Warner designed ketch that we keep on Lake Superior in Bayfield, Wisconsin for cruising the Apostle Islands during the summer. We both enjoy hosting guests and aim to provide a truly memorable, personalized vacation experience.
Bob is an experienced sailing instructor and enjoys teaching hands-on sailing-especially to families. Bob and Kat are certified Scuba divers and accomplished snorkelers, eager to share their experience and expertise.
Kat enjoys creating gourmet meals in DiggerKat's galley, (and can personalize the menu planning to fit your dietary needs) while Bob specializes in Rum drinks and sundowner beverages. Bob, a seasoned fishing guide, is our expert lobster diver/fisherman and cleans everything you catch.
